CleanTech start–up Lontra has strengthened its board with the recruitment of three senior engineering figures with strong commercial track records. Peter Watson OBE, has joined as Chairman, with Colin Billiet and Brian Long as Non–Executive Directors.
Peter Watson is the former CEO and Chairman of AEA Technology, one of the UK’s largest engineering consultancies. He has a long track record in developing and commercialising innovative technology, including heading GKN’s Research and Development. He has led companies through MBOs and IPOs.
Steve Lindsey, Lontra’s Technical Director: “Peter brings invaluable experience and understanding of the process of technology development to the company, together with direct experience working with the major companies that are potential partners for the engine and supercharger applications.”
Colin Billiet is the former CEO of domnick hunter group, a principal supplier of technology to Lontra’s target market of industrial air compressors. A design engineer, Colin rapidly built domnick hunter turnover and profitability, through product innovation and deals with Original Equipment Manufacturers, until its substantial trade sale in 2005.
Brian Long has extensive experience in the hands–on management of small engineering firms and start–ups, often working with venture capital players and companies in rapidly changing environments. He is a former Finance Director and General Manager.
Simon Hombersley, Business Development Director: “Colin’s understanding of the compressor industry will be hugely valuable as we engage with companies in the sector, and his track record in creating value through engineering innovation speaks for itself. And as we build Lontra over the coming months and years, Brian’s frontline experience in early stage technology companies will strengthen the management team considerably. Together with Peter’s high–level experience, we believe we have the right leadership as we develop from an exciting technology to a profitable company.”
All three new directors have personally invested in Lontra.
The company also benefits from the guidance of its informal advisory board of Sir David Chapman, compressor technical expert Harry Craig, CHP consultant Fred Nash, environmental technology entrepreneur Dr Peter Mucci, and leading engineer Dr Alex Moulton.
